After a successful decade in sportscar, which resulted in two LMS LMP2 titles (2007-10) and two LMP2 wins at Le Mans (2005-06) with RML-run machines, Thomas Erdos will make his come-back to GT racing. The 49-years-old Brazilian driver will enter the 2013 GT Open with a Ferrari 458 GT3 prepared by UK-based Balfe Motorsport.
He will share the steering wheel with Britain’s Shaun Balfe (40), the son of Balfe Motorsport’s team principal David, who is an experienced GT driver and won the Spanish GT series in 2004. He has been racing most recently in the Radical European Masters.
Erdos, who successfully raced Marcos and Saleen GT cars in the past, taking the British GT title in 2002, commented: “I attended a GT Open race for the first time last year in Budapest, as a TV commentator, and was impressed with the high level of racing. I’m delighted to join the series and can’t wait to get at the wheel of a red Ferrari!”
