The International GT Open 2016 season started today at Estoril with good weather and great action in the two free practice sessions of the Friday, which saw the Balfe Ferrari of Phil Keen-Saun Balfe taking the best time of the day (1.38.817 in the morning) beating all the new-generation GT3 cars, with the AF Corse Ferrari F488 of Flohr-Castellacci a close second (1.38.892).
The Garage 59 McLaren 650S of Tappy-Benham was fourth-fastest, ahead of the TF Sport Aston Martin of Hankey-Yoluc, the fastest car in session 2, and the other Garage59 McLaren if West-Estre.
There were no incidents to report in a day of intense work for the newest cars. The Orange1 Lazarus Lamborghini of Biagi-Crestani was fifth-fastest with the two BMWs M6 of Teo Martín in 7th (Yacamán-Monje) and 10th (Ramos-Rodríguez). The fastest among GT-Am cars was the AF Corse Ferrari of Lémeret-Sdanewitsch ahead of Sports&You’s new Mercedes AMG of local heroes Silva-Coimbra.
