SUPER GT PODIUM FOR RICHARD LYONS AT FUJI

Lyons takes another step onto the podium with a well fought and executed 2nd place finish at Fuji International Speedway this weekend in SuperGT.2016_hitotsuyama_test_okayama_007

In an incredibly tight race the top three GT300 cars were separated by only 10 seconds and the Audi R8 of Lyons only a hairs breadth of 0.106s behind the race winning Arta BMW M6. Conditions at the circuit were perfect on a typical summers day in Japan and Lyons knew that starting on the front row could be the start needed to finally show off all the hard work put into this machine by its team and drivers. Often looked at as a tough nut to crack, Fuji Speedway has always been a bogey track for Audi Team Hitotsuyama, but not anymore. A great lead off drive by partner

Tomonobu Fujii left the hillsborough man in a great position to chase down the lead BMW in a thrilling race that went down to wire and the final corner. Richard Lyons has now taken three podium finishes from 4 races in two championships at Fuji

Speedway this year, lets hope 2016 brings yet more points his way.

Richard Lyons:

“What an amazing weekend, P2 in Qualifying and a P2 finish at a race circuit that we didn’t think was ever possible for us to score a podium at. Audi Team Hitotsuyama has put a lot of effort into this week and with Fuji being their home circuit our guests and sponsors from Audi Japan were able to enjoy a thrilling weekend.

Our R8 was at the top of the time sheets in every session and our crew did a great job maintaining a level of intensity that was required for us to finish on the podium. Our pit stop was the only thing that took the shine off the weekend, but that aside, we left pit lane and we were still in a strong position to challenge for victory right to the chequered flag.”.
