On this upcoming 23rd April, the Nürburgring circuit and its renowned Nordschleife will be vibrating to the rhythm of the qualifying event with a view to the upcoming 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. Having competed in the two first races of the VLN Endurance Championship, Nico Verdonck will be back with the Bentley Team ABT to fine-tune the final preparations for the 24 Hours, with his sights set high on an excellent result.
“Aim is to continue our development programme and – contrary to what the spectators generally wish for – we are hoping to get some wet weather to test the GT3 Continental and its different Yokohama wet weather tires in circumstances different from the previous preparation races, as we never know in advance what the 24h Hours at the Green Hell will have in store for us”, Nico smiles. For this upcoming race weekend, Nico will be sharing the #37 car with Christian Menzel and Christopher Brück and they are ready for the final dress rehearsal before the big 24H show.
“Going forward we must remain focussed on the objective”, Nico emphasised. “Both for Bentley Motorsport and the entire Bentley Team ABT, it’s great to have clocked up good results in the preparation events, however the crux of the matter is to be in a position to go all out for a podium in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. In this light we put various strategies to the test, different sets-up, different rubbers …Also physically and mentally, I am preparing myself to be in top condition for the endurance challenge of the 24 Hours. More than ever, the countdown has started… The ABT Bentley programme is an awesome experience and I feel thrilled, both on a personal front as also at a team level. Roll on the future! “
