This year at Fuji Speedway, Team Hitotsuyama and Richard Lyons will be looking to go one better than last years hotly contested race which saw them finish second in what was one of the most gripping Super GT finishes of recent memory.
Preparation is well underway on Lyons’ Audi R8 to get ready for one of the biggest races on the SuperGT calendar and to banish the cloud hanging over the team from round 1. With last rounds demons now behind them, the next task ahead is to battle this iconic Japanese circuit for 500 kilometres, with each lap weighing in at a 4.563Km. This race will is one of the longest and most gruelling on both car and
driver, and with one of the longest straights in motorsport and big elevation changes throughout, Lyons and his R8 will be put to the test once again in front of 100’000 motorsport fans this coming Thursday.
“The “Golden Week” race at Fuji Speedway is always one of the biggest races of the year. It is also the second longest at 500km. Last time out at Fuji we almost secured the win on the last lap after chasing down the leader only to fall short by less than 0.1 seconds! This time, we’re hoping to put the messy start we have made to the season behind us and push for the podium. Yanagida San will definitely be on form this weekend so I feel good things abound for this Thursday’s race.”
