FIRST VICTORY IN THE BLANCPAIN GT SERIES ASIA FOR THE LAMBORGHINI HURACAN GT3

On the same weekend as the Fuji Speedway hosted the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia one-make series, the Huracán GT3 took its first seasonal success in the Blancpain GT Series Asia championship.

The newborn Asian championship by SRO, the same promoter of the European Blancpain GT Series, has seen 34 cars on grid at its fourth round, including six Lamborghini Huracán GT3s fielded by five customer teams.

One of these, the number 777 of the Japanese team CarGuy Racing, started from third place on the grid and built its success already at the first corner. This thanks to Kei Cozzolino, the Italian-Japanese driver winner of Super Trofeo’s Race 1 few hours before.

Cozzolino was able to take advantage of the fight between Porsche, Ferrari and Audi and leave Fuji Speedway Turn 1 at the lead of the race, starting to speed up and accumulate margin.

After the driver change, Cozzolino’s teammate Naoki Yokomizo was thus six seconds ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3-R of the Craft Bamboo Racing team and finished in P1, scoring the first seasonal win of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in the Blancpain GT Series Asia.

Positive notes also for the Huracán GT3 fielded by the Italian team Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, driven by the Lamborghini GT3 Junior Driver Martin Kodric and Sandy Stuvik. The No. 66 car fought throughout the race for the podium, but a few minutes before the finish had to leave the third position to the Mercedes AMG-GT3 of the GruppeM team.

Excellent job for the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of the X-One Motorsports team. Andrew Haryanto, who also competes in the Super Trofeo one-make series, has triumphed in the AM class.

The next Blancpain GT Series Asia event is scheduled on September 23-24 in Shanghai, the same weekend of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia fifth round.
