EXCITING WEEKEND AT THE NURBURGRING FOR THE PENULTIMATE ROUND OF THE LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE

After the summer break, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe is back with the fifth of the six double rounds scheduled at the Nürburgring racetrack. This weekend (September 16-17), the one-make series with the Huracán Super Trofeos will take place in Germany, before Imola’s closing event, namely the fifth edition of the World Final.

This season, which is about to come to an epilogue, has so far been absolutely uncertain in terms of equilibria at stake. This is proved by the fact that in the PRO category the first four crews are currently within only 12 points of one another, with a maximum of 64 points still in play.

The duo of Imperiale Racing, formed by the eighteen-year-old Jonathan Cecotto and the more experienced Vito Postiglione, is still ahead of everyone. The two drivers, after taking the lead of the standings during the second round at Silverstone, have no longer handed it over. Just two points behind them are Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies, who took their second win with the colors of GDL Racing, during the last round at Spa-Francorchamps. The drivers of Antonelli Motorsport, Mikaël Grenier and Loris Spinelli, are 10 points off the lead and boast three victories just like Cecotto and Postiglione. After five podium finishes with one of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeos of VS Racing, Raphael Abbate and Yuki Nemoto are still in the title fight and will aim at taking their first win.

In the PRO-AM, again with VS Racing, Liang Jiatong and Christopher Dreyspring are leading the standings with 86 points. Three more than those of the line-up of Artline Team Georgia made up by Shota Abkhazava and Kelvin Snoeks, who did an almost perfect weekend in Belgium by scoring a victory and a second place. Kikko Galbiati, currently third with 79 points, will instead try and recover the lead lost at Spa and will be sharing the car with Davide Roda on one of the cars of Antonelli Motorsport. On the track of the Ardennes, Paul Scheuschner and Hendrik Still (Konrad Motorsport) took their first win and are 18 points behind the leaders, 3 less than Niels Lagrange and Pieter Vanneste (Leipert Motorsport). One of the novelties of the Nürburgring round will be the return of Edoardo Liberati, 2016 champion of the Asian series in the same class and winner of the Asian GT title with a Lamborghini Huracán GT3; the Italian driver will share a Lamborghini of Dörr Motorsport with Jaap Bartels.

In the AM class, the situation is different: the Poles Andrej Lewandowski and Teodor Myszkowski (five victories to their credit with VS Racing) have definitely secured the title. Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore), however, after taking two wins and two podiums, will try till the end to reduce the 50-point gap against them. On his home track, there is also some hope for the German Philipp Wlazik, who will share the cockpit of another car of Dörr Motorsport with his compatriot Florian Scholze. In the same category, there will also be the debut of Getspeed Performance with a car shared by Oliver Engelhardt and Manuel Lauck. Carrie Schreiner, age 28, will be the only “lady” on the track, racing on her home circuit with the colors of Konrad Motorsport.

After three consecutive wins, the Colombian Juan Perez, who is taking part also in the North American series, will aim at scoring his fourth victory in the Lamborghini Cup, with the team Antonelli Motorsport. However, the Dutchman Gerard Van der Horst (Van der Horst Motorsport) is leading the standings and has a 16-point advantage over his teammate, William Van Deyzen.

As for the weekend schedule, the two free practice sessions will take place on Friday, September 15. On Saturday, the day will start with the qualifying sessions, while the first of the two 50-minute races with a rolling start and mandatory pit-stop will kick off at 3:40 p.m. CEST. Race 2 is instead scheduled on Sunday at 1:55 p.m. CEST. Both races will be available in live streaming on: http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/live-streaming.
