LMS RACING POWERED BY BAS KOETEN SEAT WINS THE 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

The LMS Racing Powered by Bas Koeten SEAT Leon TCR V2 DSG (#119, Kari-Pekka Laaksonen/Olli Kangas/Antti Buri) has won the inaugural Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS. Having covered 215 laps and a total distance of 1,505.86 kilometres on the 7.004 kilometre circuit, Antti Buri took the checkered flag to win the season finale of the 24H TCE SERIES powered by Hankook. The Synchro Motorsport Honda Civic Type R (#176, Alyn James/Daniel Wheeler/Martin Byford) took the 2017 drivers and teams championship titles.

The Red Camel-Jordans.nl SEAT LCR TCR V3 DSG (#303, Rik Breukers/Ivo Breukers) had originally appeared to be the winner as it crossed the line with a 22.6 second lead over the LMS Racing Powered by Bas Koeten SEAT. Due to a post-race one minute penalty for an overtaking infringement under Code 60, the Red Camel-Jordans.nl SEAT fell back into second place. Behind the two TCR cars, the Mercedes-AMG Testteam Uwe Alzen Automotive Mercedes-AMG GT4 (#211, Mike Stursberg/Chris Tiger/Fabian Hamprecht/Christian Hohenadel) won the SP3-GT4 class in third spot overall.

Third place in the TCR rankings went to the Bas Koeten Racing powered by Kawasaki SEAT LCR TCR V3 DSG (#155, Kristian Jepsen/Jan Sorensen), which crossed the line in fourth position overall.

The Mercedes-AMG Testteam Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT4 (#2, Saud Al Faisal/Alexander Toril/Miguel Toril/Adam Christodoulou) lost its chances to claim the overall victory due to bodywork repairs. The German team finally came home in eighth place overall and in second in SP3-GT4. The Semspeed Peugeot 308 Racing Cup (#226, Anthony Lambert/Benoît Semoulin/François Semoulin) concluded the top three finishers.

The RTR Projects KTM X-BOW GT4 (#221, Sergej Pavlovec/Eike Angermayr/Erik Janis/Daniel Skalický), that led after yesterday’s first part, suffered an ECU problem at the start of part two and finally finished in 15th place overall.

In the A3 class, the German Wheels BMW M3 (#132, Michael Luther/Jan C. Kortüm/Bernd Küpper) outpaced the two Honda teams to score the class win. Second spot went to yesterday’s leaders, the RKC/TGM Honda FD2-Civic Type-R (#99, Ricky Coomber/Thomas Gannon/David Drinkwater). Due to a loss of power, the Synchro Motorsport Honda Civic Type R (#176, Alyn James/Daniel Wheeler/Martin Byford) was no threat in the closing stages. Third place in class still gave the 2017 drivers championship title to Alyn James, Daniel Wheeler, and Martin Byford and sealed the overall victory in the teams championship as well.

In the CUP1 class, the order remained unchanged after the overnight break. The JJ Motorsport BMW M235i Racing Cup (#192, Mansoor Hamad Al Haijri/Abdulla Ali Al Khelaffi/Mahmoud Mohd Al Khalef) took the last win of the season ahead of the Sorg Rennsport BMW M235i Racing Cup (#152, Seth Thomas/Dan Rogers/James Colborn/Chris Wadle) and the Gamsiz motorsport BMW M235i Racing Cup (#162, Hakan Sari/Recep Sari).

The Team Sally Racing Renault Clio Cup III (#52, Martin Sally Pedersen/Mads Christensen/Steffan Jusjong) kept the A2 class lead to score their second victory of the season. On the very last lap of the race, the Dan Agro Racing Renault Clio Cup III (#185, Søren Jønsson/Lars Mogensen/Henrik Sørensen) inherited the second place from the HTM Racing Volkswagen Golf TDI (#222, Monny Krant/Henk Thijssen), that was stationary in the pits due to engine problems. However, the Dutch team had covered enough of the distance to join the podium in third.
