Vaillante REBELLION will come in Bahrain as leader of the LMP2 category and after three victories in the last four races, the Swiss team hopes to win the title of LMP2 World Endurance Champion.
Four points separate the Vaillante REBELLION crew #31 and Jackie Chan DC Racing #38 in the LMP2 general classification. In terms of driver rankings Bruno Senna and Julien Canal are also aiming for the world title and will make every effort to achieve the perfect race (it would be the second for Julien Canal after 2015). Nicolas Prost can not be titled, having missed the Nürburgring race because of Formula E, but once again he will make every effort to help his teammates for the victory. Nicolas is nevertheless third in the drivers standings.
Nelson Piquet Jr, Mathias Beche and David Heinemeier Hansson will once again aim for a first-class result at the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the Vaillante REBELLION #13 crew has climbed twice on the podium in the last three races.
In case of LMP2 World Title for Vaillante REBELLION at the end of this season, it would be the sixth world success in 6 years for the Swiss team, REBELLION Racing having won the LMP1 Private World Championship from 2012 to 2016 before returning to the category LMP2 at the beginning of this season.
See you on Thursday, November 16 at 3:00 pm (local time) for the first free practice!
Julien Canal, #31 driver:
“Final stretch before the last race of Bahrain, we remain very focused for the final and we continue to work on us and on the settings of the car to climb on the highest step of the podium, this race will be decisive. We will do our best and we aim for victory!”
Bruno Senna, #31 driver:
“Arriving at the final round of the championship in Bahrain with 4 points advantage over car 38 is definitely better than what we could have expected, coming into Shanghai. But the fight is far from over and we need to continue doing a perfect job to be able to take the title home. Every corner counts and our team is fully motivated to give 110%.”
Nicolas Prost, #31 driver:
“The last straight line is coming. We made an exceptional comeback in the Championship on the last 4 races but now it’s the Money Time. Jackie Chan DC Racing #38 is very competitive and we will have to fight for the victory. We are prepared and motivated to do it.”
Mathias Beche, #13 driver:
“We run after our first win since the 24 Hours of Le Mans and we will fight to get it in Bahrain. The team did a very good job on the overseas races to gain performance, we are in a good dynamic and have an excellent package. David is rising from Austin, which is a real plus. Personally I do not let go and fight to the end to get on the highest step of the podium. I also hope that #31 will get this deserved title!”
David Heinemeier Hansson, #13 driver:
“Bahrain is our last shot for glory in 2017. We have yet to win a race this year, despite many opportunities. Everyone in car #13 is motivated to seize the last opportunity and go out with a bang!”
