DRIVER – Gustavo Yacaman

“I am very excited about this weekend. It’s the first “normal” race we have this year and in one of the good ‘ole American classic race tracks. We believe that Mid Ohio will suit our Ligier. Both Sebastian and I have been learning a lot the past few races and now its time to put the hammer down. Honestly, with how late this deal was put together and how we have been just learning the car race after race, our season starts here. Cant wait.”

DRIVER – Sebastian Saavedra

“We’re getting ready for the fourth race of the season here at MId-Ohio, and I’m looking forward to getting back and continuing the positive evolution of the AFS/PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports team. Throughout the previous three races, we have shown strength and positive attitude. We just need to connect all of those dots together. I feel like Mid-Ohio is such a European looking track and it might translate in a very positive way for the Liger JS P217. I think Gustavo Yacaman and myself are really ready to get a good result and start fighting the DPI’s, which have had more power and speed than the LMP2’s. We are getting better and better in such a short period of time so we are looking to bring the car home and get some points.”

TEAM OWNER- Gary Peterson

“The team has learned so much by using the previous three races as practice since we had zero testing prior to the Roar at Daytona and before the 24 Hours at Daytona. The drivers and engineers had virtually no experience with the new upgrades of the Ligier Chassis and we started with a difficult car that left us with a huge gap between ourselves and the other LMP2 cars. I’m very proud of the entire AFS/PR1 team in this adventure so far and look forward to a great race. Our crew members are some of the finest guys I have worked with in my last thirty years of racing. I will not be attending the Mid -Ohio Race this weekend but, in spirit, I will be with the team.”

TEAM OWNER – Bobby Oergel

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Mid-Ohio. Our last visit with the prototypes was in 2012 and we had a great run there with a 1st place finish. The whole team has been working so hard and are super excited to be back on a natural terrain road course.”
