Paul Miller Racing will start in fourth place in front of a home crowd on Saturday afternoon for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. Bryan Sellers set a qualifying lap time of 51.838 seconds on the 1.5 mile road course.
Based in Parsippany, New Jersey, the Lamborghini Huracán team will take the green flag at 3:05PM Eastern, and fight for two hours and forty minutes to extend their points lead in the GTD class championship.
Bryan Sellers put in ten qualifying laps in the morning session sitting in fifth position until a final lap dash moved him up to fourth. The starting position gives him a comfortable gap over the next two contenders in the championship points battle, who will start back in eighth and ninth.
Consistency has been the team’s strength this season, finishing in the top four positions in all six races to date this season. With five podiums, the team has held the points lead since round two of the championship, where Sellers and Snow clinched victory at the Twelve Hours of Sebring.
It was not a bad qualifying effort for us. It’s right about where we thought we’d be. We’d hope to be a little bit faster, but we just don’t have the outright speed as some of the other cars. We have a really good car over the race distance, so I hope that plays into our favor for the race. We’re in a good position to race, and that’s all we can ask for. Now we’ll do a few last minute changes and tweaks to get it where we want and we’ll see how the two hours and forty minutes unfold.
We had a good qualifying. Bryan got everything out of the car. There were a lot of cars making strong gains every lap out there. It was cool to see that everyone was so competitive. We kept telling Bryan what the fast lap was and where the leaders were. At the end of the lap, Bryan was able to put out a fast lap that jumped us a few positions and put us in a great position to start the race.
