GUILLEM PUJEU IN HIS FIRST GT PODIUM HUNT AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

The Spaniard will contest the second round of the GT Cup Open, which will take place in the Belgian Ardennes this weekend. It’s a dream coming true for Pujeu who is looking forward to making his debut at Spa-Francorchamps at the wheel of the Teo Martín Motorsport-entered McLaren 570S.

Guillem Pujeu is ready to face the second venue of the GT Cup Open, the Pan-European championship in which Pujeu is making his first appearance following a successful single-seater career in which the Spaniard took the Vice-Championship in the Formula 4 Spain last year.

Pujeu heads to Belgium with a clear goal in mind: a podium finish which eluded them at Paul Ricard. The Spanish driver will share the driving duties in the Teo Martín Motorsport-run McLaren 570S with Faust Salom, a strong pairing for fighting for top honors in the series. In Le Castellet, Pujeu finished second in the class for Silver-rated drivers and eighth and ninth overall. Pujeu expects to further improve the performance coming into the weekend with more experience under his belt.

“I’m extremely happy heading to Belgium because racing at Spa-Francorchamps is a great chance, mainly driving a McLaren. McLaren is a brand with an excellent background at this circuit with drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost o Mika Hakkinen. When every driver begins his career is looking forward to experience the feeling at Eau Rouge” explains an optimistic Pujeu. The driver of Teo Martín Motorsport adds that “we have prepared this event extensively with our team on the simulator in order to discover its key points. Of course, nothing compares to the real experience on Friday, and it will tell us where we are going to be throughout the weekend. On paper, Spa-Francorchamps is a good circuit for our McLaren, because the 570S features excellent top speed to help us at Kemmel and Blanchimont. We will have more details after the first practice session but, anyway, usual changeable weather conditions at Spa-Francorchamps could have a massive impact. So, let’s see!”

After a Friday devoted to testing with two free practice sessions, Q1 will take place on Saturday at 10.15 (GMT+2) and race 1 is due to start at 14.40 (GMT+2). On Sunday, Q2 is scheduled in the morning at 09.30 (GMT+2) with racing action coming to an end at 12.50 (GMT+2) at 12.50.
