TeamTGM RETURNS TO LIME ROCK PARK TO DEFEND 2018 VICTORY

As the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season hits the halfway mark, TeamTGM returns to Connecticut in pursuit of another race victory in the Lime Rock Park 120.

The team has shown impressive pace in the two most recent races but is looking for that needed dose of racing luck to close the deal and emerge from the weekend with the results that show the huge team effort that TGM is known for.

Saturday’s two hour sprint marks Round Six of the 10-race championship season, and 2018 race winners Owen Trinkler and Hugh Plumb return to the high-speed 1.53-mile circuit in the No. 46 Jayne Koskinas Ted Giovanis (JKTG) Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 machine with the top step of the podium as the target.

The sister No. 4 jktgfoundation.org / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo will arrive at the Northeast corner of Connecticut carrying the momentum of two strong race weekends. Giovanis continues to post best-ever lap times as he makes the most of the 2019 Michelin tires, while Cosmo has pushed the No. 4 jktgfoundation.org Mercedes to the front of the field in tight knit competition.

With lightning laps around the clockwise lap ‘bullring’ circuit coming in at just under a minute, action packed racing is guaranteed for the two-hour sprint event.

Coming off winning a pole position at the previous round of competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the No. 46 jktgfoundation.org entry, the motivation burns to secure the team’s first win of the season.

Having netted the CTMP pole and with thousands of laps at Lime Rock Park under his racing belt, Trinkler carries optimism and determination with him in the TeamTGM machine.

“It is awesome being able to get back to Lime Rock,” said Trinkler. “I love the track. I have always had great runs there on the ‘bull ring.’ The team has been doing a great job so we know they will put together a good car for us. We will rebound from past outings and take the confidence of being back at a place where we have run well before. I look forward to going after the pole and trying to get the win there again.”

“I badly want to give our guys and team a really good result, that is what they deserve,” said Plumb.

The No. 4 JKTG Foundation / Camp Boggy Creek Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Giovanis and Long Island native Cosmo combine to bring veteran experience to Lime Rock Park. Giovanis fought for and secured a top-ten finish in 2016 – his best finish at the circuit. Cosmo raced to four top-five finishes in an LMP2 in the former American Le Mans Series.

Giovanis is confident in the TeamTGM crew and Mercedes package.

“Lime Rock is a short, fast and narrow track that relies on momentum,” said Giovanis. “Getting the set-up right is the first step. Limited passing means you wait for mistakes or the front straight. We will be strong there.”

“We are historically good at Lime Rock so going back should be an encouraging opportunity,” said Cosmo. “It is such a short track with tight racing so it will be a wild ride of a race. We expect to be strong there in our Mercedes but when the TGM boys get their hands on Lime Rock, we put a little magic into it!”
