The Portuguese youngster is one of the leading drivers of the season, with his teammate, Miguel Ramos, and signed three podiums in four races, results that allow them to lead the Drivers’ Standings by two points.
In the next weekend the Portuguese duo will visit the Red Bull Ring, a track that Henrique Chaves knows since his singleseater days. Last year, in the International GT Open, achieved there a third and a fourth places. “I like the track lay-out and I secured good results there since my Formula Renault 2.0 time. I believe the McLaren 720S GT3 will be competitive there and, with a new engine, I think that we will have even more possibilities in our fight for the podium positions”, said the Portuguese.
The youngster from Torres Vedras is looking for a competitive car, with the Teo Martín Motorsport’s input, but he underlines that a strategic approach is needed, with the championship in mind. “We want to lead with a bigger advantage after the Red Bull Ring event. In the first race we have a 10-second handicap, but I believe we can fight for the win, nevertheless and that’s our goal. In the second it will be harder, but strategically it might be important to finish in fourth to tackle the Monza event without handicap”, underlined Henrique Chaves.
The official program of the Red Bull Ring event of the International GT Open will kick-off Friday, with the practice sessions. Saturday will be held a qualifying session and a race, 15h25 (GMT+1). Sunday will mirror the day before, but the race will be held at 12h30 (GMT+1). The first race will have a seventy-minute duration and the second sixty and both can be followed live at the series website.
