AKM Motorsport by Antonelli starts its International GT Open campaign at Le Castellet this coming weekend, 14/16 May. The San Marino-based squad, in its third year with the Mercedes, will line-up two AMG GT3 cars.
Loris Spinelli and Alexander Moiseev will split duties in one Mercedes. The Italian/Russian duo will form a Pro-Am partnership. In 2020 Moiseev finished as Am runner-up and scored a double class podium at the same French track.
To join for the first time the team headed by Marco Antonelli will be the German pair Jens Liebhauser and Florian Scholze, who will share a second AMG GT3 car aiming to defend the Am crown they secured last season.
At the Paul Ricard track AKM Motorsport by Antonelli will also enter a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo for Glauco Solieri. The Italian racing driver makes his return to the GT Open Cup after more than one year break.
Solieri, who counts this circuit among one of his favourites and has prior experience in many GT series, in France secured a clear victory in 2019 driving an Antonelli Motorsport’s Lamborghini.
The weekend officially begins with the first free practice session tomorrow, before continuing on Friday with the second and third sessions. Qualifying 1 for both championships will start on Saturday, with the GT Cup Open opening race at 11.55 and Race 1 of the International GT Open at 16.45. Sunday features Qualifying 2 and the final race at 13.40.
Qualifying and races will be live streamed at the championship’s YouTube channel.
