Four-time Indianapolis 500 Champion Helio Castroneves will be Meyer Shank Racing’s endurance driver for the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Castroneves will contest in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Rounds paired with full-season drivers Oliver Jarvis and Tom Blomqvist in the No. 60 MSR Acura ARX-05.
Castroneves first joined Meyer Shank Racing’s NTT INDYCAR Series program in 2021, competing in six events. The Brazilian scored his record-tying fourth Indianapolis 500 win in May – also the first INDYCAR win for MSR. Castroneves will be competing in the the full 2022 INDYCAR season with MSR.
In addition to winning the Indianapolis 500, Castroneves also won the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona to start off the 2021 IMSA season. Castroneves was most recently added to MSR’s Motul Petit Le Mans lineup which saw the Brazilian lead laps.
“I’m super excited to be a part of Meyer Shank Racing’s IMSA team next year,” said Castroneves. “I really love IMSA racing, so I am very lucky to be able to do both IMSA and IndyCar next year. I’m looking forward to starting off with Daytona in just two months time now, and it gives me a little extra confidence going into it as the reigning champion.”
Meyer Shank Racing’s 2022 IMSA lineup will feature Jarvis and Blomqvist for the full-season with Castroneves joining the pair for the Michelin Endurance Cup Rounds. MSR will announce the final member of the Rolex 24 lineup in the near future.
