Pasin Lathouras is gearing up for the Paul Ricard 1000 km this coming weekend (23-24 June) and will be looking to build on the momentum he has already established after enjoying a very strong start to the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup 2017, which has seen him score points in both races held so far and make a trip to the podium.
During April’s opening round of the season, held at Monza, Italy, the 23-year-old Thai driver, along with his teammates Michele Rugolo and Alessandro Pier Guidi, finished in second place overall to kick off his second season in Blancpain GT in real style. Despite the car not having the outright pace to challenge for the podium in the second round, held last month at Silverstone, UK, they still brought the #50 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 home in sixth place to add more points and consolidate their position in the championship.
In fact, Pasin and his teammates currently stand third in the Drivers’ championship rankings in the PRO (overall) category after those two races and their target at Paul Ricard will be to cement and try to further advance on that position. They are just 5 points adrift of the crew in second place but equally they are a similar five points ahead of the drivers who occupy fourth, so they will have to look both ahead and behind them as the classification reaches half distance mark in France.
It’s vital to be scoring as many championship points as possible this weekend as the series’ visit to Paul Ricard straddles the halfway point of the season and next up will be the 24 Hours of Spa which offers extra points awarded at part distances.
There will be an added twist this coming weekend to boost the young Thai driver’s confidence as last year, the first time he entered the Paul Ricard 1000 km, Pasin came away with the best result of his Blancpain GT rookie season – after finishing as runner up. With the same teammates, car and team around him as last year a very stable and settled package is in place to bid to return to the podium one year on – although as has been the case so far this year any bid for victory will depend on the Ferrari’s Balance of Performance (BoP) rating for the French event.
Pasin should also be very quickly up to speed on the 5.842 km/13 turn circuit in the South of France as the series’ Official Pre Season Test Day took place at Paul Ricard Circuit back in March giving the Thai driver track time to refresh himself.
Not only can Pasin count on his superb runners up spot in Blancpain GT at Paul Ricard last year but he also won at this circuit on his debut in International GT Open in 2015 (part of a superb double podium weekend) while just before that triumph he also tasted victory in the same series’ ‘Winter Race’ which was held there.
So far therefore his visits to Paul Ricard have been well rewarded and the task will be to continue that run – the objectives for the coming weekend are very clear: chase for points and the podium. But it won’t be easy at all to get a good result, Blancpain GT is the biggest and most competitive championship for ‘GT’ sportscars in the world and the grid is full of factory drivers and teams. More than fifty GT3 cars will be on the entry list. So the crew of the #50 Ferrari are going to have to work really hard to get anything from this race.
Pasin is being supported during the 2017 Blancpain GT Endurance Series by NaRaYa, LaLaMa, NaRa by NaRaYa, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Sport Authority of Thailand.

พศิน ทำผลงานได้อย่างยอดเยี่ยมในการทดสอบช่วง พรี-ซีซั่นเทสต์ ในสนามแห่งนี้ และทำเวลาได้เร็วมากในแทร็กที่มีระยะทาง 5.842 กิโลเมตร 13 โค้ง ซึ่งคาดว่าในการแข่งขันที่ พอล ริคาร์ด ในสุดสัปดาห์ ที่กำลังจะมีถึง พศิน จะสามารถทำเวลาได้เร็วขึ้นกว่าเดิม
ไม่เพียงฟอร์มอันยอดเยี่ยมของ พศิน ที่ทำได้ใน พอล ริคาร์ด เมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา แต่นักขับไทยยังสามารถเอาชนะในการแข่งขันที่สนามดังกล่าว (โปร-แอม คลาส) ในปี 2015 ซึ่งถือเป็นการคว้าโพเดี้ยมได้ถึง 2 ครั้งในสนามเดียว โดยหนึ่งครั้งในจำนวนนั้นคือการแข่งขัน วินเทอร์ เทสต์ นั่นเอง

พศิน เปิดเผยว่า “เราออกสตาร์ทฤดูกาลนี้ได้ค่อนข้างดี และตอนนี้ผมก้กำลังโฟกัสไปที่การแข่งขันสนามถัดไปใน พอล ริคาร์ด ซึ่งหวังว่าจะทำผลงานได้ดี ผมมีผลงานที่ดีในปีที่ผ่านมาที่ ฝรั่งเศส ด้วยการคว้าอันดับ 2 และมีเป้าหมายที่จะทำให้ได้ในปีนี้ด้วย”
